Some timelater, t he family moved to Milwaukee. He made his first Holy Communion at the age of 13 on 14 May 1893 atSt. M ichaels Catholic Church in Milwaukee. At about that time hechose Jeane tte Durand from the Orphan Train to be his adopted sister. In 1896, when he was sixteen, his father died. Two years later hismothe r remarried. In the 1900 census, John Boehm (born Nov 1880) andJannette B oehm (born Sep 1889 in Wisc) were listed as living on 22ndStreet in the C ity of Milwaukee with Jacob and Mary Roesch and Jacob's4 children . The y were both listed as step-children of Jacob, implyingthat their mother w as Mary Boehm. Johnny, who was then twenty yearsold, was employed as a n office clerk. On 25 January 1905, at the age of twenty-five, Johnny marriedseventeen y ear old Eleonor Sebald at St. Michaels Parish. His adoptedsister Jeanet te (Durand) Boehm signed the marriage record as one ofthree witnesses. T he other two witnesses were Peter R. Justru and JohnP. Bertram. His mid dle name Wenceslaus appears in his marriage record.In June of that year E leonor gave birth to a boy whom they namedTheodore George (Ted). In the 1905 Milwaukee census, taken just 4 days before the birth ofthei r son Ted, John was listed as married to Eleanor (Sebald). Theywere li ving next door to his mother Mary (Wamser) Roesch and adoptedsister, Je nny who was listed as Jeanette Boehm. At that time John wasemployed as a b ookkeeper. According to Evelyn Bonerz, He died at the age of 38, shortly afterthe d eath of his adopted sister, Jenny. This is apparently in errorsince his c emetery burial record lists his date of death as 9 October1918, a littl e more than a month before Jenny's death. It is possible that he was also a victim of the Great Flu Epidemicthat t ook the life of Jenny. He was survived by his wife and fourchildren, Te d, Alice, George and Marion. Four years later, his widowedwife Eleanor ( nee Sebald) married Jenny's widowed husband, AnthonyBonerz. John is buried in the Calvary Cemetery in the same plot with hismother a nd his wife Elinor Sebald. The cemetery record lists Elinor'sname as El la E. Bonerz. Name: John W.
