There are six children buried with Catherine and Philippe and at thisti me(12-20-98) it is not known if these children were Catherine and Philippe's. They are listed asfollows : Laura b. Feb. 25, 1890, age 3 days. Anton May 5, 1884 - Aug. 22, 1895, invalid son of P. and H. John Dec. 18, 1882 - Mar. 7, 1883 Anna Mar. 27, 1881 - (Mar. 30, 1881), age 3 days Paul 1905 - 1905 Infant 1910- 1910 The last two listed are Philippe and Catherine. Now; April 6, 1999; I visited the cemetery where the above listed arebu ried. There was a typographical error in the cemetery listing. According to the marker, Anton was thein valid son of P. and K. Katherine was 18 when she and Phillip married and he was 35. |

Philippe came to the United States with his parents and siblings in1854 ; They arrived in New York on May 14 after a 5 months voyage.(info found in History of Sauk County,Bu tterfield, 1880; page 790 in paragraph about Wenz Mihlbauer) The following from Joyce Schellenger. According to Veda, and Susan, Phillip was a bit of a tyrant. He did not have an easy life. He came to America as a small boy withhis p arents. He married Mary when he was 29 and they had 3 children. Five yearslater , when he was 34, Mary died of pneumonia. About a year later hemarried K atherine. I cannot imagine how he took care of the 3 children, all under fiveand d id the farming for a year. Possibly grandparents helped. He andKatherin e had 9 children, 3 who died in infancy and one (Anthony) whowas a sick ly child and lived til about 10 years old. He lived on the original farm all his life. When he died he left itjoin tly to all his living children. The farm now belongs to EvelynWyman. Sh e is Edwards daughter. |
